The Wonders of Group Tuition
I’m going to start off by admitting that I’d always offered group tuition a little reluctantly. It’s also fair to say that I’d never fully embraced the concept of online tuition. Sure, I provided online lessons, especially for my international clients and those well outside of my catchment area here in Islington. But it was out of necessity and not desire.
The funny thing is, I’m not exactly sure why this was the case. Maybe it’s because my 1 to 1 private tuition business had been going from strength to strength with 95% of my clients face to face, here in my home. It could have been that I felt online and groups were more a distraction than being something in high demand. And certainly not essential.
Then, last March, everything changed.
Suddenly, it was online everything and any resistance to online tuition, from myself or from clients new and old, simply vaporised. It was a straight choice between online tuition or nothing.
And now everyone, young and old, can use Zoom!
What an absolute blessing it has turned out to be. As well as continuing with my 1 to 1 tuition clients, I’ve also created a number of innovative courses that have proved wildly popular.
It’s also enabled me to achieve another key goal, which is to provide high quality group tuition at a price which almost anyone can afford. With challenging courses and masterclasses from just £20 per lesson, I’ve been able to help a great many more students that I thought possible.
My courses have proved to be lively and interactive affairs, with a lovely blend of healthy competition and peer to peer support. Ideas abound and I have to say it’s been thrilling to see so much progress achieved, even in my 6 lesson courses.
In a prime case of eating humble pie, one of my recent courses will filled to the point I ran it 7 times!
While there has been a great deal of angst and uncertainty over the past year or so, there have also been some changes which, when fully embraced, could be considered to have been lifechanging in an extremely positive way.
My passion for tutoring is burning brighter than ever and the expansion into group tuition and online courses is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to making high quality education available for all who want it.
Stay tuned for a major piece of news about how we’re going to be changing the world, one student at a time.
