Here is an outline of some of the key factors determining my price points to help you decide if I am the right tutor for your child.
Qualifications and Experience:
I have a PhD in physics from Cambridge University along with 25 years’ experience teaching maths and science to all levels from 7+ to A-level, and also adults wanting help with professional numerical reasoning tests for entry to firms such as Goldman Sachs and McKinsey & Co. as well as leading MBA schools. I have taught pupils from all the leading schools in North London (private and state) as well as boarding schools such as Eton and ex-pats living around the world.
Track Record:
I have a strong track record of being able to raise students’ grades significantly within a relatively short space of time. Here’s a recent testimonial from a parent:
“My daughter had 1:1 Skype tuition with Muhammad as we don’t live in London. I was a little worried about how it would work but it was convenient and she could arrange her lessons for when she was free without losing valuable revision time travelling, something that became increasingly important as she got closer to exams! It must have worked as she went from a C in AS Maths to an A* with 98% in C4! She’s now hoping to apply for medicine something which didn’t seem possible a year ago”. Mother of A Level Student, Sussex.
Many parents also testify to my ability to boost their child’s confidence and to help students to actually enjoy their studies. You can read many more testimonials on my website and FB page https://mathematicsandsciencetuition.com/testimonials/.
A Complete Service:
I am not just a tutor; but a coach and mentor and am able to build up a good rapport with my students and help build confidence in each child, so much so that it often has a positive influence in other subjects too. Furthermore parents are also paying for the time I put in outside of sessions – preparing resources, communicating with parents to provide feedback on progress and get input on areas of priority for each student, keeping up-to-date with constantly changing exam board requirements and continually developing my professional skills and pedagogical understanding through reading and study.
A Professional Service:
For many tutors at the lower end of the pay spectrum, especially those working through agencies, tuition is just something they have to do to pay the bills, while aspiring to other career paths. This can too often mean that tutors are not only inexperienced and unenthusiastic, but also unreliable in terms of availability – even dropping students at short notice. For me tutoring is my career and I pride myself on offering the utmost commitment and professionalism, combined with my passionate interest in teaching my subjects. My rates are comparable to those of professionals in other fields that require similar qualifications and experience and obviously being self-employed I don’t get any extras such as holiday pay or pension provision.
