Things to do with kids this Christmas in London

I’m pretty sure I say it every year, but once again the festive season has crept upon us. As I plan out what we’re likely to do over the holidays, it seems like a good time to put together a few ideas for things to do with kids this Christmas in London.

If you’re household’s anything like mine, once the dust settles from the excitement of the big day, little ones will need entertaining.

I’m going to kick things off with a few of my personal favourites, which I’ll be taking my own children to this year.

For starters, we have ice skating at Somerset House. Spills aside, it’s a great feeling to be on the ice, rosy cheeked and building an appetite for something lovely afterwards!

Next up, we’ll be taking in the Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park. There really is something for everyone again this year, from shows, ice skating, Zippos Circus, a giant wheel and a whole lot besides.

They’ve also made is a little more affordable by offering a family bundle package and you can see more here: https://hydeparkwinterwonderland.com/

For us, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a pantomime or two.

Oh yes it will… Oh no it won’t…!

This year we’ll be heading to the Hackney Empire to enjoy a version of Dick Whittington.

A lovely thing to do which really doesn’t take any more than a tube or bus fare is to check out some of the fantastic arrays of Christmas lights around the capital. There are the obvious places such as Oxford Street and Regent Street, but there are plenty of others well worth a visit. Covent Garden, Carnaby Street and Leadenhall Market all put on a lovely spectacle and if you happen to take advantage of the shops and restaurants, well, it is Christmas!

If you’re looking to take in a bit more festive cheer, why not visit many of the fantastic Christmas Markets? From hot chestnuts and mulled wine and bespoke gifts to full shows and entertainment, there’s something to suit every taste and mood for all the family.

All that remains to say is that whatever you do this Christmas, I wish that you have a fabulous time with your loved ones and that the Christmas break is all that you hope it to be.

Merry Christmas!
