Private Tuition – A few questions I’m often asked
Can you tutor at my home?
Only in exceptional circumstances as my timetable doesn’t allow for travel time.
How much do you charge?
Please review the Fees page on this site where you will see fees listed. If you have any further questions please contact me directly.
How many lessons will be needed?
Each student is unique and has their own needs. While some students will need a shorter period of tuition in the run up to exams, for example, many benefit from consistent and regular tuition sessions over a longer period. Others choose to take an intensive course of tuition during school holidays. Please do contact me to discuss your specific requirements.
Do you offer trial lessons?
Yes I do, but they are charged at the normal rate.
Can I sit in on my child’s lessons?
Yes you’re welcome to, and some of the parents of younger students choose to do this, although often-older students feel more comfortable without their parent in the background. It’s about find what works best for your child and I am more than happy to discuss the most appropriate approach with you.
Do you set homework?
Sometimes it’s helpful to provide practice questions and revision work to do at home, which I go through with the student in the next lesson. This is always based on what students and parents feel is helpful, taking into account the work already set by the school, as well as other commitments. I feel it’s important not to completely overload the student that that they approach each lesson motivated to be there and to learn.
Can you teach siblings together?
It’s uncommon however I have occasionally, as well as tutoring twins together. Feel free to contact me to discuss your requirements.
Do you give discounts if I book regular lessons for 2 or more of my children?
Generally no, because I am usually full at my standard rate. However, please do contact me to discuss your specific requirements as I offer a range of 1 to 1 and group tuition classes.
